The Story Behind Pro Bono Vault

Pro Bono Vault began as the idea of Juhi Agarwal, a senior at Montgomery High School (Class of 2027) and an aspiring lawyer driven by a simple belief: access to justice should not depend on how much you can pay. A dedicated, hardworking student preparing for her college applications, Juhi is also her school's debate champion for the past two years — experience that sharpened her conviction that everyone deserves a voice, and someone to help them use it.
She built this platform as her way of giving back to her community now, rather than waiting for someday. Pro Bono Vault is her effort to make life a little easier for people across the United States who need legal help but don't know where to turn.
What Makes This Different
Most tools solve one slice of the justice gap. Pro Bono Vault unites them in a single, student-founded platform:
- One search, every provider — matches people to free and low-cost legal help nationwide, across legal aid, nonprofits, bar associations, clinics, firms, and solo attorneys.
- AC, built-in legal research — turns plain-language questions into real case law, statutes, and regulations drawn only from verified, trusted legal sources, and drafts attorney research memos and reports.
- An attorney dashboard — keeps every pro bono case and hour in one place, files bar reports directly, and links out to the external government platforms attorneys need.
- Providers, self-served — any provider can list itself, take the Pro Bono Pledge, and get matched requests with automatic bar reporting.
- A student pipeline — high school and college students can apply to volunteer or intern with participating organizations, gaining real pro bono experience while giving back.
Our Mission
Pro Bono Vault was created to bridge the justice gap by making it easier for people to find free legal help. We aggregate information from legal aid organizations, bar associations, law school clinics, nonprofits, court self-help programs, and government legal programs into one searchable platform.
How It Works
Tell us about your legal issue and where you are. Our matching engine searches verified legal-help resources and ranks them based on relevance to your specific situation — considering your legal issue, location, eligibility, language preference, and urgency.
Data Sourcing
Our data comes from authorized sources including legal aid directories, organization self-reporting through our portal, structured data feeds, and curated imports by our team. Every record undergoes verification and is regularly checked for freshness and accuracy.
Privacy Commitment
We take privacy seriously. Search data is used only to improve matching accuracy and aggregate analytics — never to identify individual users. You can search without creating an account, and registered users can delete their data at any time.
